[How To Shrink]

1) Backup your current registry using the explorer.

2) Execute the System editor, \windows\system\Sysedit.exe, and edit contents like following, then save and quit.

a) System.ini

[boot]
shell=explorer.exe

[boot]
;shell=explorer.exe
shell=taskman.exe

b) Win.ini

[windows]
load=(if exists)
run=(if exists)

[windows]
;load=(if exists)
;run=(if exists)

3) Execute the Notepad, make a text file, "MRU.REG", which has following contents, and save them before quit it.

[HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU]
"a"="REGEDIT C:\\WINDOWS\\ALL.REG\\1"
"b"="SYSEDIT\\1"
"MRUList"="ab"

4) Execute the Registry editor, \windows\regedit.exe, and do the following step one by one. Quit after all done.

5) Restart win9x, and select command prompt mode from boot menu.

6) Execute the following command one by one.

CD \WINDOWS
REGEDIT /C HLMHW.REG
REGEDIT HLMWIN.REG
REGEDIT HKUWIN.REG
REGEDIT MRU.REG
WIN

7) Desktop appears, at the same time, Task manager(taskman) may also appears.

8) Execute the taskman's MRU

regedit.exe all.reg

9) Execute the taskman's MRU

sysedit.exe

nd edit contents like following, then save and quit.

a) System.ini

[boot]
;shell=explorer.exe
shell=taskman.exe

[boot]
shell=explorer.exe
;shell=taskman.exe

b) Win.ini

[windows]
;load=...
;run=...

[windows]
load=...
run=...

10) Restart Win9x.

11) If no problem, delete the following 4 files:
